Cheree is a financial expert with 20+ years of experience and is driven by innovation and fostering positive change within the broader financial services industry.
Cheree started her Prescient journey in 2005 as a newly qualified chartered accountant and has held several key positions within the organisation. In 2018, she assumed the role of CEO at Prescient Investment Management, where she steers the company towards becoming South Africa's leading systematic investment manager that relies on data-driven investment processes to provide clients with certainty in an uncertain world. She has also been on the board of Prescient Foundation NPO since 2018 where she contributes to the corporate social investment initiatives of the Group.
Beyond her role at Prescient, Cheree is a member of the Investments Board Committee of ASISA. Additionally, she serves as the Chairperson of the Gen Re Board of Directors, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. She is also a board member of PBT Limited.
Cheree‘s expertise spans a number of topics, including the future of investing. She enjoys sharing insights on diversity and inclusion, corporate culture, women in leadership, and sustainable investing.
Bastian joined Prescient Investment Management in August 2015 as a Portfolio Manager, and was responsible for various multi-asset strategies. In 2018, he stepped into the role of Head of Prescient’s Asset Allocation Capability and in 2019, to Head of Investment Research. In 2021, Bastian was promoted to Chief Investment Officer.
His tenure includes developing actively managed investment strategies across asset classes and he has been closely involved with the management of optimal fixed-income allocations within Multi-Asset Class Funds.
Before joining Prescient, Bastian spent 10 years in asset management, starting in 2006 as a multi-asset portfolio manager in Zurich, Switzerland. He then worked for four years as a portfolio manager in the asset management division of Berenberg in Hamburg – where he also managed multi-asset allocations and derivative strategies. After his time in Hamburg, he spent two years as a portfolio manager at Amundi Pioneer in Munich, Dublin and Milan, where he was responsible for the management of conservative fixed-income funds and global risk overlay strategies.
Letshego joined Prescient Investment Management as Head of Institutional Business and a member of the Executive Committee in July 2021. Her role is to drive growth and profitability of Prescient Investment Management (PIM). She is also responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract and retain institutional clients, as well as identifying new business opportunities. Letshego was appointed as a Director in June 2022, and is a member of Prescient Investment Management Board.
With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, she’s held various positions in insurance, banking and asset management, including sales executive at Old Mutual Investment Group, business development manager at Argon Asset Management (where she also served on the MANCO), and senior client fund manager for STANLIB. At STANLIB, Letshego was promoted to business manager in the CEO’s office and after that, she joined Vunani Fund Managers as executive director: head of business development and marketing. She’s also worked at Momentum Investments as executive head: institutional distribution.
Letshego holds a BCom degree in Industrial Psychology and Business Management from North-West University and an MBA from UNISA.
Murray joined Prescient Investment Management as Head of Retail Business and a member of the Executive Committee effective 1 November 2023
With more than 30 years of experience at some of South Africa’s leading financial services and boutique asset management companies, Murray most recently worked as a wealth manager at RMB Private Bank. Prior to this he was CEO of FNB Financial Advisory, as well as, co-founding boutique fixed-income asset management company Atlantic Asset Management which was acquired by Ashburton Investments in 2016, post which he became Managing Director, responsible for the retail marketing and distribution strategy.
Murray holds a BComm degree in Financial Management from UNISA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from IMM Graduate School. He is a Certified Financial Planner, a qualification obtained from the University of the Free State.
He enjoys road running, golfing, surfing, and reading.
Nasreen joined Prescient Investment Management as Head of Operations in February 2019. She has over 13 years’ experience in the financial services industry and began her career with a research internship at a local asset manager in 2006. In 2007 she joined State Street as an operations manager where she was responsible for servicing institutional clients within their asset owner and sovereign wealth division.
Prior to joining Prescient Investment Management, Nasreen filled the role of Client Relationship Manager at Mergence Investment Managers, where she lead a team who formed the vital link between Mergence’s clients and their independent third-party administrator.
Nasreen holds a BBusSc (Hons) (Finance), 2005, which she obtained at the University of Cape Town
Kathrin joined Prescient in April 2023 as Prescient Investment Management’s Marketing Manager. Her responsibilities include growing Prescient Investment Management’s brand awareness in the market and creating a lasting, memorable brand in the hearts and minds of stakeholders and the end investor.
She worked for a leading brand and advertising agency, Switch Brand from 2013 to 2022 as the Client Services Director and Brand Strategist, and eventually as the General Manager. Over her 12 years in the marketing and advertising industry, Kathrin has been instrumental in building many successful, well-known global and local brands.
Kathrin holds a BCom (PPE) from the University of Cape Town. She obtained her post-graduate Diploma in Integrated Marketing Communication at the AAA School of Advertising. In addition, she completed a course in Digital Marketing at Red & Yellow and a course in Investment Management at UCT.
