What excites you the most about investment/financial markets?
What excites me most about financial markets is that they challenged me to think beyond the conventional path associated with an LLB degree. The financial markets have allowed me to apply the skills I developed through law in a completely different context while exposing me to strategy, regulation, and decision-making on a broader commercial level. I enjoy the pace of the industry and the fact that there is always an opportunity to grow, improve, and learn something new.
Why do you believe Prescient's Graduate Programme can help you achieve your current career goals?
My compliance placement at Prescient has already given me valuable exposure to the financial services industry and has shown me how closely regulation, risk management, and operational excellence are connected within investment markets. The experience has allowed me to bridge the gap between law and finance while learning in a high-performing environment. I believe Prescient’s Graduate Programme will help me achieve my career goals because it provides practical exposure, mentorship, and the opportunity to learn from professionals who operate at a very high standard. The programme aligns with my goal of building a long-term career in the investment industry while continuing to expand my knowledge beyond the legal profession.
What advice would you give a new graduate starting their career?
My advice to any new graduate would be to never limit yourself to the degree you studied. Your qualification gives you a foundation, but it does not define your entire career. Some of the best opportunities come from being willing to step outside of your comfort zone and apply your skills in industries you may never have initially considered. As someone with a legal background transitioning into financial services, I have learned that adaptability, discipline, and a willingness to learn are far more important than following a perfectly linear career path. Always strive for greatness, remain consistent, and trust that growth often comes from taking on challenges that initially feel unfamiliar.
A quote you believe and live by?
“The price of progress is pain.” I believe that meaningful growth requires sacrifice, discipline, and resilience. Whether in academics, professional development, or personal goals, progress rarely comes without challenges. That quote reminds me to remain disciplined during difficult periods because discomfort is often a necessary part of becoming better and achieving long-term success.
